PIPITS, WAGTAILS, HIRUNDINES (Martins & Swallows), SWIFTS - 20 species [v18.12, 133 additions]
This is one of 14 galleries into which photos of specific birds may be lodged. In alphabetical order they are: 1-‘Ciconiiformes’ (large waders etc.); 2-‘Corvids, Starlings, Doves, Pigeons’; 3-‘Finches, Buntings, plus’; 4-‘Gulls and Terns’; 5-‘Larks, Thrushes, Woodpeckers’; 6-‘Odds, medium to large’; 7-‘Odds, small to medium’; 8-‘Pipits, Wagtails, Hirundines, Swifts’; 9-‘Raptors including Owls and Vultures’; 10-‘Sea Birds and similar‘; 11-‘Tits, Warblers, and similar’; 12-‘Waders A to R’; 13-‘Waders S to Z’; and 14-‘Wild Fowl including Swans’. As usual there are a few poor photos that are there for record purposes only. The explanatory text that goes with the Home Page gallery is being be revised accordingly.
V16.05 ADDITIONS. Two record photos of a Tree Pipit.
V16.08 ADDITIONS. No new species. Swallow 12-14; and Yellow Wagtail (iberiae) 10-13 were taken during the trip to SW Portugal, June 2016.
V16.09 ADDITIONS. No new species. Three Pied Wagtail 14-16, Norton Fitzwarren, Somerset.
V16.09b ADDITIONS. No new species. Four Rock Pipit 5-8, Ayrshire coast, Scotland.
V18.01 ADDITIONS. No new species, but significant improve to Tree Pipit photos, 4x (03-06). Also Water Pipit (6); 3x House Martin (6-8); 2x Common Swift; and 2x Yellow Wagtail iberiae (14-15).
V18.12 ADDITIONS. No new species but large new additions [133] in several species. Photos and file numbers follow. Crag Martin 5-8; House Martin 09-24; Sand Martin 5-9; Meadow Pipit 06-32; Rock Pipit 09-29; Swallow 15-31; Red-rumped Swallow 6-9; Alpine Swift 3; Common Swift 7-9; Grey Wagtail 16-33; and Pied Wagtail 17-33.
N.B. There are currently seven pull-down galleries for ‘single bird species’ and it is hoped more from this gallery will be added in the future (e.g. Swallow; Grey Wagtail; and Pied Wagtail).
