LARKS, THRUSHES, WOODPECKERS – 33 species [v18.12, 40 additions]
This is one of 14 galleries into which photos of specific birds may be lodged. In alphabetical order they are: 1-‘Ciconiiformes’ (large waders etc.); 2-‘Corvids, Starlings, Doves, Pigeons’; 3-‘Finches, Buntings, plus’; 4-‘Gulls and Terns’; 5-‘Larks, Thrushes, Woodpeckers’; 6-‘Odds, medium to large’; 7-‘Odds, small to medium’; 8-‘Pipits, Wagtails, Hirundines, Swifts’; 9-‘Raptors including Owls and Vultures’; 10-‘Sea Birds and similar‘; 11-‘Tits, Warblers, and similar’; 12-‘Waders A to R’; 13-‘Waders S to Z’; and 14-‘Wild Fowl including Swans’. As usual there are a few poor photos that are there for record purposes only. The explanatory text that goes with the Home Page gallery is being be revised accordingly. In this gallery there are extra photos of the Great Spotted and Green Woodpeckers as well as the Robin.
V16.03 ADDITIONS. The 11 additions are made up of photos taken on the trip to SW Florida early in 2016. They constitute photos of 2 new species of the woodpecker family, namely the Yellow-bellied Sapsucker and the Pileated Woodpecker, together with 3 new photos of the more common Red-bellied Woodpecker.
V16.08 ADDITIONS: No new species. Robin 13-14; Mistle Thrush 5; Song Thrush 6-8; and Wheatear 8-10 were all taken on trip to Mull, May 2016. Crested Lark 3-4 taken on trip to SW Portugal, April 2016. Blackbird 08-09; and Crested Lark 5-6 were taken on trip to SW Portugal, June 2016. Blackbird 10-11; and Great Spotted Woodpecker 21-22 taken in England.
V16.09 ADDITIONS: No new species. Three new Wheatear 11-13; Norton Fitzwarren, Somerset.
V16.11 ADDITIONS: Four new Stonechat photos (08-11) taken on recent Portugal trip.
V18.02 ADDITIONS: No new species. Photos as follows. 4x Blackbird (12-15); 1x Fieldfare (5); 1x Crested Lark (7) Algarve; 3x Redwing (4-6); 4x Robin (15-18); 8x Stonechat (12-19), 1x Mistle Thrush (6); 1x Song Thrush (9); 3x Spectacled Thrush (4-6); 9x Great Spotted Woodpecker (23-31) Somerset; 2x Green Woodpecker sharpie (4-5) Algarve; and 6x Green Woodpecker (21-26) Somerset. N.B. The Great Spotted and Green Woodpeckers are getting very large in number and I am therefore considering having individual galleries for them [for more info please see home page e.g. Black-winged Stilt, Dipper].
V18.12 ADDITIONS: No new species. Additions as follows: Blackbird (16-17); Crested Lark (8-9); Robin (19-20); American Robin (5-9); Skylark (5); Stonechat (20); Blue Rock Thrush (3); Mistle Thrush (7-9); Song Thrush (10-20); Wheatear (14-20); and Green Woodpecker (27-31).
