SOUTHERN P0RTUGAL WILDLIFE – October 2016
It would appear that one of the beneficial effects of a warm Portuguese Autumn is that birds as well as other animals and insects remain/survive somewhat longer than normal. For example this year it seemed that there were many more butterflies and dragonflies about.
Unfortunately it was not possible to spend much time on ‘wildlife’ and this gallery does not contain much. Hopefully further explanation of what is contained herewith will not be necessary.
As to the future, it would be interesting to dig out some of the wildlife photographs I have taken in the past and, perhaps, to develop some sort of ongoing record of non-bird wildlife found in Southern Portugal - particularly in the Algarve and Alentejo Regions. This could be a considerable exercise as we have made 30 or more trips to Portugal in the last ten years although some work has been done on butterflies and dragonflies.
