SOUTH WEST FLORIDA, WILDLIFE – January 2014 and January 2016
It is intended that this gallery should be an ongoing record of some of the wild life that may be found in South-West Florida. Like 2014 our 2016 Florida holiday produced a few chances for wildlife photography. Indeed 2016 saw more and better opportunities to photograph alligators and dolphins (including an amazing, though hard to photograph, demonstration of ‘thrashing for mullet’). Unfortunately there was no sign of the Black Bear in 2016 apart possibly of some ‘droppings’ and in hindsight 2014 produced a very lucky hit. Also, 2016 saw two new butterflies (Queen and Monk Skipper) and one new dragonfly (Four-spotted Pennant) – always assuming I got the IDs right. Turtles were a bit similar to 2014. The lizard was different to any seen in 2014 but I need to do some more research into species.
