BIRDS AND ‘ANIMAL’ FOOD: v17.11, [331 photos inc 4 additions]
This gallery is an addition to the theme related galleries such as birds in flight, bird portraits, bird disputes etc, (for further information please go to the home page and click on the Home Page thumb nail). The gallery contains photos of birds catching, finding and feeding on animals (as opposed to vegetables). Unfortunately this practice is a necessary element of the evolution and continuance of many animal species in the wild. The ‘catch’ includes dead and live animals. It ranges from small insects to prey that is as large as the predator/feeder and, in the case carrion, can, of course, be much larger than some birds. Needless to say some of the photos are of lesser quality.
V17.08 ADDITIONS: There are 4 photos of a Black-headed Gull with a substantial fish and 6 photos of a Grey Heron with a fish. Both at Meare Scrape, Shapwick Heath, Somerset.
V17.11 ADDITIONS: There are 3 further photos [14-16] of a Grey Heron with a large fish and one of a Ringed Plover with, perhaps, some sort of worm. The file numbers for the Black-headed Gulls have been revised – now [01 to 10] – but there have been no new photos.
