David Rayner Photography | Birds of W Canada

WESTERN CANADA BIRDS, September 2014
A major part of this trip to Canada was intended to be devoted to some of the larger animals and a train journey across the Rocky Mountains. Nevertheless we were always hopeful of seeing plenty of birds along the way. This gallery represents a sort of photographic report of our success. Any overly empathetic viewers may wish to bear in mind that conditions (weather, light, moving trains/boats/cars etc.) were not always on the side of the photographer.
The usual warning about the accuracy of my bird ID applies. The extra info after some of the file names is part of my own photo management system. The info is usually obvious when seen with a thumbnail or larger. For example: [f] = female, [j] = juvenile, [b] = breeding plumage, w = winter and 1 = first year. Those photos with a file name prefaced by ‘z’ are largely (some extremely) substandard and are included only as records of other birds seen.
